Getting started
Account & access
Find your lessons, update your login, and learn what comes with a free Basic account.
Where can I find my lessons?
Log in and go to Your Lessons. You’ll see the lessons included with your membership there. If you bought an individual lesson, you can also find it in the Purchased Lessons area of My Account.
Open any lesson to watch the videos, view the tab, listen to the practice tracks, and download the available lesson materials.
How do I change or reset my password?
If you’re logged in, open My Account and use the account details or password option. If you can’t sign in, use the lost-password link and follow the instructions sent to your email.
What is included with the free Basic plan?
Basic is always free. It gives you access to the free lessons and tabs, lets you purchase individual lessons, shows you the guided learning courses, and keeps you updated when new lessons are added.
You won’t be charged for a Basic plan.
Choosing your access
Purchases & memberships
Understand the difference between owning one lesson and accessing the full library.
Do I need a paid membership to purchase an individual lesson?
No. You can purchase an individual lesson without joining Pro or Pro Annual. The lesson stays in your account, so you can come back and use it whenever you’d like.
What is the difference between an individual lesson and a membership?
An individual purchase gives you ongoing access to that specific lesson. It’s a good option when you know exactly what you want to work on.
Pro Monthly and Pro Annual give you access to the full lesson library for banjo, mandolin, and guitar while your membership is active. Both plans include the same complete Pro access. Only the billing schedule changes.
How many tabs and practice tracks can I download each month?
Pro Monthly and Pro Annual include up to 12 lesson-material downloads per month. Watching lesson videos, listening to practice tracks, and viewing tabs on the lesson page do not use any downloads.
A download is used when you download that lesson’s tab and track files to your device. If you accidentally use more than one download on the same lesson, send me an email and I’ll help you out.
Does Pro Annual renew automatically?
Yes. Pro Annual is charged once per year and renews automatically unless you cancel it. Your renewal information is shown at checkout and in your account.
If you joined through a special promotional rate, that rate continues only while the same discounted membership remains active. Canceling it ends that promotional rate.
How do I cancel my membership, and what happens to my access?
To cancel, log in and follow these steps:
- Open My Account.
- Choose Subscriptions.
- Open your active membership and select Cancel.
Your membership access continues through the end of your current paid billing period. Any individual lessons you purchased remain in your account. If you don’t see the cancellation option, email me and I’ll help.
Using your lessons
Lesson files & videos
Learn what you can stream, what you can download, and why lessons use shorter video sections.
Can I download the lesson videos?
The lesson videos stream from the website and aren’t available as offline video downloads. You can watch them as often as you’d like with an individual lesson purchase or while your membership access is active.
Tabs and practice tracks are provided separately and can be downloaded when they’re included with your purchase or plan.
What file types come with a lesson?
Tabs are generally available in PDF and TEF formats, and practice tracks are MP3 files. Downloaded lesson materials may arrive together in a ZIP file. The lesson videos stream directly from the lesson page.
Why is each lesson divided into several videos?
Shorter video sections make it easier to find the part you’re practicing and repeat it without searching through one long video. It also makes moving between the lesson, tab, and practice track a little easier, especially when you have picks on your fingers.
Repertoire
Song requests & copyright
You’re always welcome to suggest something you’d like to learn.
Can I request a song, lesson, or transcription?
Yes, you’re welcome to send me a suggestion. I can’t promise that every request will become a lesson, but requests are helpful when I’m planning new material.
I can only publish lessons for traditional or public-domain music, my own original material, or music I have permission to teach. An exact transcription of another artist’s solo may require permission, but I may be able to create an original lesson covering a similar technique or musical idea.
