Hey Mike! I’m trying to learn the chorus part of the song, but the 10th fret on my 5th string is not the same as yours. Since we’re playing in the key of B with a standard tuning gDGBD, when I put my thumb on the 10th fret of 5th string, I’m a fourth above you! I’m confused, why is this happening? My 5th string is tuned to b when I capo everything. 😀

Hmm, not sure. It could be an issue with your banjo or it could be that the tuning wasn’t correct. It’s hard to say without hearing/seeing you play it.

Are you spiking your 5th string at the 9th fret to make it a B?

Can you record a short clip of you playing the part and send it to me?

        Thanks.

        – Mike

Actually it’s a major third above, sorry 🙂

The real note should be an “E” (14th) fret on the 5th string.

        So you’re getting a “G#”?

Gets a bit confusing. It would be better if you kept everything described in terms relative to the capo. When they need to learn that it’s really whatever true position on the fretboard they will. Right now they, of which I am a part, just want to learn this song. It’s all up to you, of course. Thanks.
