I’ve been working on taking simple tunes and “banjoizing” them. After taking a hack on this one, I took a look at how you did it.

I’m always curious as to why you mix up playing the 5th string first or the 1st string first, such as in measure 14 on the alternate beats. Is there a reason for this, like you’re maybe setting yourself for measure 15?

I’ve been working on the beginner tab for Will the Circle… and listening to your three versions of the song, and I’m wondering if I’m missing some of the tab. It doesn’t quite sound like what I’m hearing.

Also, is this same version included in your ebook?

Thanks for responding so quickly. I like your suggestion for the c chord. When you say the tab is just for the lead of the song, doesn’t the lesson provide the tab for the entire song? If so, is it possible to get the tab for the whole song?

This is great, thanks! I’m just starting with banjo, but one thing I’ve found useful in practicing other instruments is to pause for a moment after each repetition when “looping,” as you suggest we do with measure 3. This reduces unwanted muscle memory – here, the unwanted muscle memory is getting used to going from string 1 on the last note to string 5, when what we really need to do is go to string 3.

Question about left hand fingering – in several measures (8, 13, 15) the middle finger winds up on fret 3 or 4, then has to go back to 2 on the last beat. Why not just let the first finger fret the note on fret 2?
