Moveable Melodic Scale Pattern

Today I’m going to be talking about a moveable melodic scale pattern (sounds scarier than it is.) Basically, it’s a single pattern you can work on that will work in any key on the banjo. So if someone at your local jam calls a tune in F# (jam buster) you’ll be ready. Best of all, you don’t have to re-tune or use a capo!

This is arguably the single most useful thing I’ve ever stumbled upon while practicing the banjo. I’m constantly discovering new and cool ways to use this. This pattern has helped me out of tough situations when I’m not familiar with a tune and I need to come up with something on the fly!

Rated 5 out of 5

I love learning from Mike! His teaching method is very to follow in that he breaks the tunes down measure by measure, explaining, and showing, placement of both hands. The additional source files are terrific and appreciate how he takes licks and/or techniques from a particular tune and teaches, in a separate video, how to implement them in other tunes.
